South Indian Coconut Milk Vanjaram Fish Curry

     South Indian Vanjaram Fish Curry (or) King Fish Curry

Ingredients

Vanjaram Fish (or) King Fish- 450 gms
Onion- 1(Big)
Tomato- 2
Shallots (or) Small Onion- 10 Nos
Green Chilli-2 Nos
Jeera-1Tbsp
Fennel seeds-1Tbsp
Fenugreek-1tsp
Garlic- 5 pods
Red chilli powder-1 Tbsp
Coriander powder-2 Tbsp
Turmeric Powder-1/4 tsp
Coconut- 100gms
Tamarind- 1 big amla size
Coconut Milk-100ml
Oil-50 ml
Curry Leaves- As Required
Salt-To taste








Preparation Time:-  30 Mins

To Make Coconut Masala:-

       Take the coconut, garlic pods, half of the fennel seeds and cumin seeds into a mixer jar and make it into a fine paste by adding some water. Don't make it as a thin watery paste.

Method:-

1. Wash the fish two to three times then add a pinch of turmeric powder, mix it and left it aside.
2. Switch on the stove and put a pan add oil in it once the oil is hot add the fenugreek, remaining fennel seeds and cumin seeds into the pan.


3.Once all the seeds get crackled add the chopped onion into it.


4.Fry the onion until it gets transparent, then add the chopped tomato  and green chilli into it.


5.Then add the turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder and then saute it.


6.Add some water for the masalas to get boil.

7.Once the raw smell of masalas went, then add the grounded coconut masala into the pan.


8.Add some more water into the pan, allow it to boil.


9.Once the oil get separated, it is the time to add the tamarind water into the pan.

10.Add the salt to your taste then add the fish pieces into the pan.


11.Make the gravy to boil for 5 mins.


12.Atlast add the coconut milk to the gravy then switch off the flame.

13.No need for the gravy to boil.
